Ultimate Earache Relief

Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional. I am a SAHM( Stay at home mom) who shares her home remedies.

This earache remedy is not for the faint of heart. I will be honest and tell you the truth, I was already in a lot of pain and the first day was horrible. The saying it gets worse before it gets better fits this remedy. I cried a lot and don’t want anyone to go through what I went through.

My pain level was a 20 on a scale from 1-10. I was afraid I would have to go to the hospital; it hurt so bad. My symptoms were:

  • clogged ear
  • severe ear pain
  • drainage at times
  • pain that went into my jaw
  • swimmers ear
  • painful ear popping

My ears were so clogged I couldn’t even hear anything, and I couldn’t eat because I couldn’t close my mouth. I never had ear pain so bad it affected my jaw.

The remedy

What you need:

Day 1
  • Take pain relievers soon as possible.
  • Wait at least 1 hour before doing anything after you take the pain relievers.
  • Put 5 drops of the mullein garlic drops in your ear, and keep your head tilted for at least 5 minutes. Do this 4 times a day. IT MAY BE PAINFUL! Just breathe for me.
  • put the cotton ball in your ear, and keep your ear covered
  • get your hot water bottle, cover it with a pillowcase and lay your ear on it. Try and let the heat get around the ear. Keep the hot water bottle on your ear for at least 45 minutes. If it’s too painful to lay down, sit up and prop the water bottle on your shoulder. If you have a heated blanket, use that instead. I used a hot water bottle!
  • Take a Benadryl after 2 hours. Listen to me… that Benadryl will start unclogging your ear, and it may pop. Yall it hurts. But if you trust the process, I promise it will get better.
  • Stay up on your painkillers. Every 7-8 hours, take a Tylenol.

Keep your ear covered with cotton balls. I used a sweatband to keep my cotton ball from falling out.

Day 2
  • Repeat steps from Day 1
  • Start massaging your ear lobes and the side of your face. Do this after you add the drops to the ears. For me, it helped get the drops around my clogged areas. DO NOT PUSH HARD.

Day 2 may be a little rougher for you. my ears were so clogged. It sounded like fiberglass was breaking in my ears. I had a lot of painful popping, then clogged ears, then felt draining, then clogged ears again. These are the moments you realize the saying it gets worse before it gets better.

Day 3

You will notice the pain is gone, but if you suffer from clogged ears, they seem to pop a lot but are not painful and sound like glass breaking. That’s a great thing.

Listen to me. Your ears will start to itch so bad on the inside you will want to scratch or take something and scratch, DON’T DO IT!!! I did it, and my ears were throbbing and aching so bad that I cried like a baby. Yes, I was crazy to do it, but I couldn’t help it. Please don’t be me.

If your ears are itching, just put 3-4 drops of Mullein Garlic Drops in your ear, and massage your ear on the outside where it itches. You will feel the oil going to the area, and the itching stops.

Day 4
Day 5 – Day 7
  • Repeat steps from Day 4

I hope this home remedy is helpful for you as it was for me. After a week, your ears will feel so much better. I am 100 percent back to my old self, with no earache pain, no clogged ears, and no itching.

Good luck to you!

Home Remedies for Allergies, Hay-fever, and Sinus

I have suffered from allergies all my life. I don’t care what you call it, sinus, hay fever, or allergies, I suffer from it.

It never fails, the first budding of the trees and my eyes start to itch and water, and my throat gets the scratchy dry feeling.  Then in a few days the dreadful headaches, runny nose, or clogged nose on one side, the coughing, itchy ears, and you feel horrible.

I use to be left with taking Benadryl and going to bed. But once I woke up, the intense sinus pressure comes back worse and I’m left taking more Benadryl. No one can live like that.

I took time to find natural home remedies that really helped cope with my allergies and it didn’t stop my life. I wasn’t left with any drowsy side effects and I didn’t have to go to the doctor anymore due to sinus infections. I hope my home remedies can help you, too.

Hands down the best allergy medicine are nettle leaf tea or capsules.  This tea clears all your allergies and sinus issues. Do not drink if you have kidney issues.

I must warn you if you are full of mucus and you drink this tea, you will expel it, quickly.  Yes, you may vomit mucus, but I can guarantee you that you feel better. I give this to my girls and when they have been heavily congested, they have vomited. Do not worry, the tea is cleaning out all the mucus.

This tea is amazing, and before I had kidney issues I drank a cup every day and never had allergies.  If you aren’t a tea drinker, take 600mg capsules daily for a week, and then take 300mg a day after then.

I love this tea and it is a detox tea. It is great for detoxing your kidneys and liver but I noticed it helped my allergies. I stopped having those pressure headaches, and that itchy throat feeling went away within a few days. Because it is a detox, I drank two cups a day for three days, and then just one cup a week.

After suffering from sinus infections, I learned to take Vitamin C tablets, which helped keep my immune system strong.  I even give my girls Vitamin C and they hardly get a cold or suffer from allergies like they use to. Add Vitamin C to your grocery list, and make a habit of getting this into your diet. You can take 500mg a day.

HALLS COUGH DROPS  and TeaHalls cough drops are a miracle. When I get that itchy cough, or my throat feels like it is swelling from all the pollen, I pop one in and I instantly feel better.  But, I started experimenting and realized the cough drops can be made into a tea.  Drink this in the morning or before bed, it helps you breath better, and your head isn’t as foggy.

Halls Cough Drop Tea

All you do is add water and cough drops to the pot and bring them to a low boil. Stir to make sure cough drops have diluted. Pour into a cup, add a lemon slice and enjoy.

Essential oils aren’t just for the wonderful aromas that they have, but the healing properties that they possess. Here are a few essential oils that help you with your allergy issues.

  • Peppermint/ Spearmint- You can choose either one mint but they both do the same, they help you breath better and overall feel better with the sinus pressure.
  • Eucalyptus – This is amazing for congestion. I use this in the bathroom during baths and showers.
  • Lavender -Use at night for a calming effect. It helps my headaches and sinus pressure
  • Lemon –  Use in the morning, it makes me feel energized, and I don’t have the tightness around my eyes.

In your oil burner, add water and a few drops of your choice of essential oil and let the magic happen. I have mixed and matched my essential oils to get maximum benefits. Try these combinations:

  • Lemon / Peppermint/ Lavender – After Work or Busy Day Relief
  • Lemon/ Eucalyptus -Morning Relief
  • Lavender / Eucalyptus – Nighttime Relief
  • Eucalyptus / Peppermint – Congestion Relief

Make sure to add water and only a few drops of the essential oil, a little will do a lot.

Household hacks

No one wants to hear this but you have to do it. Household chores… yeap there is no way out but to CONQUER! The main goal is to keep the dust and pollen down, and a cool environment.

  • Change filters often invest in hypoallergenic filters
  • Keep bedroom blinds and windows shut.
  • Keep your bedroom cool.
  • Vacuum every day, or at least your bedroom.
  • Shower before bed to get off any dust or pollen that may be on you.
  • Take shoes off soon as you come in, pollen is on the bottoms of your shoes.
  • Dust often, especially in your bedroom, dust loves to hang around the bed, under the bed, and headboard.
  • In your car, cut the A/C on and open your windows, it helps filter the dust and pollen. After 5 minutes roll the windows up.
Dietary Changes

Don’t get mad at me but I have to take a minute to talk about this. I’m not saying go on a diet, but I do need to talk about eating greasy food and your dairy consumption. Did you know that plays a contributing factor to your allergies? Don’t roll your eyes, you want to feel better don’t you? Well ok then, read below for a few helpful tips, and stop pouting!

  • Stop smoking cigarettes. The free radicals make you congested, have headaches, and overall feel yucky. If you can’t stop cut back, and tell me if you don’t see a BIG DIFFERENCE.
  • Cut the dairy. Might be the cause of the itchy eyes and your runny nose.
  • Cut the greasy, fried foods.  Might be the cause of the stuffy nose and feeling like you can’t breathe; wheezing
  • Increase your fluids, drink water. It helps expel the mucus.
  • Increase your fruits and veggies. Helps eliminate the mucus in your body, and alleviates allergy symptoms.

I hope these home remedies have been helpful for you and your family. Enjoy!

Home Remedies for Restless Leg Syndrome and Leg Cramps

Have you ever woke up in the middle of the night with the most painful leg cramps? What about having restless leg syndrome (RLS), right before you fall asleep your leg feels like worms are moving around and you can’t let your legs be still?

I have been there many times. It took a few trials and errors, but I was able to learn to cope with my RLS and hope my home remedies will come in handy for you.

Go to the doctor and get a check-up! It is important!

I know going to the doctor is not a home remedy but when you have unbearable leg cramps, go to the doctor. I had the unfortunate event of not taking my leg pain seriously and continuing doing my home remedies, I needed serious medical attention. You can read more in my Get To Know Me.

Word to the wise, when you have done all the home remedies you can and nothing helps, GO TO THE DOCTOR.

Take your vitamins

I will always say this. You would be surprised by the number of nutrients you can be low on that can affect your overall health and your legs. Just get a great vitamin that has Iron, Vitamin D, and Magnesium. It will work wonders.

 Stretch and exercise

Make it a habit to stretch when you get out of bed in the morning, and before you go to bed at night. It’s the movement and the stretching of the limbs that give you relief. I don’t know if my limbs tighten up from not moving at night but, just a few simple legs stretches work wonders.

You will even notice doing leg exercises will help with your leg pain throughout the day as well.

This is the last thing you want to hear is someone saying exercise, but walking or moving really helps. Before going to bed try and get in a workout. I noticed walking on the treadmill with an incline of 5.0 was very helpful at night with my RLS.  You do not have to have the incline so high, I just did what I could handle for nighttime relief, I didn’t want to overexert myself but I did want my legs to feel tired so I can get a good night’s rest.

GINKGO BILOBA TEA  or Gingo Biloba

Before you drink this, check with your doctor. It may interfere with the medicines you take. DO NOT TAKE IF you are pregnant, have kidney disease, or bleed or bruise easily.

This is an amazing herb for restless leg syndrome and leg cramps that helps with circulation. Remember, this is a natural remedy, and it may take several months to start seeing benefits.

Take 2/40 mg tablets three times a day. Drink 1 to 2 cups of tea a day.

Warm Baths

This remedy is a wonder drug for me. I have experienced RLS before bedtime at times. I learned to take a warm bath with Epsom salt helps relax and relieve those tingly achy legs.

The trick is to get into the tub as the tub is filling up, and turn the water as hot as you can handle it. You will feel the tingling begin to subside.  Just lay back and relax and let the water take care of you.

There is something amazing about a nice massage, but something extraordinary when you really need it. Leg massages work wonders for leg cramps and RLS. I know for a fact, I had to often ask my sweetie to help me with her amazing massages just to give me relief from my RLS.

I learned to just try and relax and allow the massage to work. Your legs will automatically start to relax, and you will feel this calm feeling take over. Enjoy it.

If you don’t have anyone at night to massage those achy legs, invest in a leg massager. It may aid in the relief you so desperately need.

Hot water bottle or heated blanket

Heat is an amazing tool, especially with RLS. Just get a hot water bottle or heated blanket and curl up for a wonderful night’s sleep. The heat helps relax those overactive muscles and gives you relief.

In my experience, it takes about 10 minutes for you to start feeling relief. It is best to already have your hot water bottle or heated blanket already warm, so when you lay down, you are already set.

Stomp it out.

Have you ever woke up in the middle of the night with the worse Charlie Horse or leg cramp you ever had?

Get out the bed and stomp your feet. March in place, but make sure you are impacting the floor hard. It stops the cramp RIGHT THEN.

I have awoken to some blood-curdling screams due to my leg cramps being so unbearable, you could see the muscle spasming. By accident, one night I jumped out the bed and STOMPED my foot, and out of nowhere, the pain started to subside. SO I did it again, and the pain began to lessen down even quicker. I honestly thought it was a fluke.

Well, it wasn’t, my sweetie woke up with a horrendous Charlie Horse, and I told her to stomp the foot of the leg down as hard as she could., and she did. She yelled and laughed, she said it felt like a quick shot of electricity went down her leg and then the pain started to wane. She marched in around the room for a minute or so and the pain was completely gone.

Quinine is used to treat leg cramps and malaria. I found out that tonic water actually has quinine in it. Tonic water has a bitter taste to it, so I have mixed in pineapple juice and apple juice to cut the taste.

Do not use if you have heart issues, kidney issues, or are pregnant.

I hope these home remedies will come in handy for you.

Home Remedies

Anxiety and Depression Relief

Anxiety and depression have a funny way of creeping in and affecting the best of us. You may experience sleepless nights, angry outbursts, feeling low and in a dark place, panic attacks from dealing with traumatizing situations and stress, the list goes on and on.

I have a few helpful home remedies that can help elevate those pesky feelings and get you back to your happy self in no time.

 Cut Alcohol

I know you are laughing and calling me all kinds of names but hear me out. If you are a heavy drinker, alcohol has a funny way that it leads to depression. I use to drink, I would drink to feel good, to be social, and then I noticed I would feel bad. Sometimes this guilty feeling or sadness would come in when I wake up and I decided to do some research. It’s the alcohol… Click here.

It may seem as if everything is okay when you are drinking alcohol but is a natural relaxer. Once the effects wear off, your anxiety or depression will come back in full swing but heavier and harder. Worse, you become dependent on alcohol to keep getting that natural relaxed feeling. It’s a road of nothing but destruction, alcohol will wreak havoc on your body in the long run.

To cut the need for alcohol, you can take supplements to repair your liver and kidneys. An amazing product that can help with detoxing from alcohol is the liver cleanse and detox.

You may purchase this from Amazon. There are many different detoxes but in my opinion, this was one of the best. It’s not expensive, I am familiar with the different herbs and flowers used and I felt overall better with my mood and gut health within 4 days. It contains dandelion roots, and you will urinate a lot. Drink plenty of water.

Get Active

When you sit in a dark room, or in a closed-up house, you will start to feel as gloomy as your environment. You need to move and get out, feeling the sun on your face.

Being depressed make you feel like you don’t want to do anything but sleep and be alone, but that’s not the answer. Get up, get dressed, and get outside. You need to breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the weather.

If you feel you cant muster the strength to go outside, take a Vitamin E supplement. It is not a remedy for the sun, but you can get the benefits that you will lack from not getting enough sun. Lack of Vitamin E has been known to cause depression.

Warm Teas

There is nothing like a good cup of warm tea but did you know that different teas can help alleviate certain ailments?

I have a few tried and tested teas I use to drink when I suffered from postpartum depression. These particular teas are not just good for Postpartum depression, but they are helpful for anxiety, stress, tension, depression, sadness, and safe for children. I give my 8-year-old chamomile tea with warm honey on those fussy nights. Kids get stressed, too.

You can purchase these teas at Amazon.

Limit Your Caffeine

Drinking caffeine can cause nervousness and jitters, which can lead to anxiety. If you are having issues with caffeine just limit your consumption or just cut it out completely.

Get Your Sleep

You have to get enough sleep to keep up with your day-to-day demands, if you don’t you will start a downward spiral that can wreak havoc on your body and overall wellbeing. You need to create a nice relaxing atmosphere to get the best possible sleep you can.

  • Make it dark
  • No TV 1 hour before bed
  • No electronics 1 hour before bed
  • Get into a routine to go to bed a the same time or close to it every night. I tried this and within 3 nights, I automatically get sleepy by 11:00 pm. It works.
  • Get a diary and write in it. Write down your day, or what makes you mad, and leave your problems there.
  • Make your room cool. The bed with your covers will be cozy and you will be sleeping in no time.

Eat Healthy and Drink Healthy

I know, I know you can’t believe this is a discussion but did you know eating high fatty foods are linked to depression? Click here.

I was amazed by my findings, but I will say my family and I are feeling better eating healthier. You have more energy to do things, and you feel good inside.

High sugar diets are known to cause an increase in all types of mood disorders, and making  quick lifestyle changes can do wonders for your mood.

Fruits and vegetables make you feel good inside so slowly incorporate these items into your meal.  They give you a calming and relaxing effect that will help with anxiety and stress.

Drink plenty of water, fruit juices and sodas may taste good but all in all it’s just sugar.

I hope these home remedies help with any anxiety/ depression you may be experiencing. This is not a substitute for medical help. Please don’ hesitate to contact your doctor or  Click Here for more help.

Home Remedies

Heartburn Relief

Heartburn has attacked everyone, and when it hits, it is one of the worse pains to have. I especially hate being woken from a deep slumber only to realize I’m a fire-breathing dragon who needs relief.

It has taken some time, but I have tried every remedy I tell you. I must warn you some of the treatments may interact with any medication you may e taking, so please take precautions and use them wisely.

Choose meals wisely

You must be careful of the foods you consume, incredibly close to bedtime. I have learned to incorporate veggies and salads with my meals. Try and go for grilled or steamed. When it comes to salads, you can’t go wrong with any variety but be careful with the salad dressings; they can wreak havoc to your tummy.

  • Be careful with high acidic food such as tomatoes, grapefruit, ACV, watermelon, oranges… they are triggers.
  • Fried foods, chocolate, milk, rich foods, blue cheese, be careful.
  • Alcohol can upset your stomach. Never drink on an empty stomach. Eat bread or something greasy, and use it in moderation.
Exercise and Heartburn

You have to be careful eating or drinking before working out. I have had heartburn just because I sipped water. How? It was just water.

  • Try and wait for 1 to 2 hours before working out. It allows the food and liquids to break down, and your stomach acid isn’t trying to break down food while exercising.
  • Remember to exhale. I have held my breath, and it caused heartburn. Just try and breathe slowly, and don’t overdo it.
  • Start slow and gradually increase your exercise. It helps with the acid in your stomach. I don’t get that burning sensation in my throat when I start slow and then build up the frequency during my workout.
Baking Soda and Water

This is a quick-relief remedy that works in about 10-15 minutes. You will probably belch or have to use the restroom. It’s ok. Like the old saying goes, its more room out than in.

  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
  • One cup of warm water. As warm as you can stand it.
  • Mix in a cup and drink it fast.
Ginger Tea and Fresh Ginger

Ginger helps with your digestion, and I recommend drinking at least twice a day in the morning and before bed. It helps alleviate nausea, upset stomach, heartburn, and overall just a great tea because of the inflammatory properties.

When using fresh ginger, add ginger to your teas, soups, drinks, or any dish to help aid in digestion. You can even take a slice of ginger and eat it. It will help with heartburn, just remember ginger is spicy so have some warm water to help aid in your heartburn relief Kidney patients DO NOT DRINK.

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)

This is a quick and easy home remedy that works quickly. Give it 20 minutes to work.

  • 2 teaspoons of ACV
  • 1 cup of warm water
  • Stir and drink.
Licorice Root

This is a home remedy that takes time to work. You will want to take this twice a day and the best route is the pill form. You will see great benefits within a month. You must incorporate this into your daily lifestyle to get relief from heartburn and indigestion.

  • 75 mg a day
Prilosec OTC

I will hand down recommend this to anyone. It works wonders and it lasts 24 hours. I will say this, take it for a few days to see results. Take it before a spicy meal, and drink a full glass of water with this.

Could you not take it right after eating? Wait at least two hours after eating and 1 hour before. You need the medicine on an empty or relatively empty stomach for you to get the best benefits.

Home Remedies

Earache Relief

I always seem to get earaches in the summer from swimming, and winter from the cold air. I have a few home remedies that will help you with the pain.

Mullein Garlic Pure Ear Oil

This is kid friendly, work within 6 hours and the only earache medication I do buy. Follow the directions, add a cotton ball and you are DONE! You can add this medication to your achy ear up to 4 times a day. You will smell like garlic.

Heat 2-3 cloves of garlic on stove with olive oil for 5 minutes. Remove garlic and use cotton ball to get some juice, squeeze off excess and put in ear. Use this oil 3-4 times a day for best results.

Onions can help fight pain like garlic. Heat 2 slices of onion on stove with olive oil for 5 minutes. Remove onion and use a cotton ball to get some juice. Squeeze out excess juice and place cotton ball in your ear. Use this oil 3-4 times a day for best results.

Over The Counter Medicine

When the pain comes, get some OTC medicine to help alleviate ear pain. Aleve, Ibuprofen, and Tylenol are all great. Make sure to use them interchangeably so you get the most benefit.

Hydrogen Peroxide

This is great to use for clogged ears and swimmers’ ear. Just add 3 drops of hydrogen peroxide to your ear, let it fizz, and turn your head to drain. Make sure to have a towel, debris will come out.

Hot and Cold Compresses

These compresses are useful for many ailments. Just make sure to use for 20 minutes at a time. Cold compresses can be made with ice in a Ziplock bag. Hot compresses can be made with hot washcloths. Make sure to put a towel over the compresses. Never apply directly to skin, you may get hurt.

Home Remedies

Toothache Home Remedies

We all have had that moment where we need IMMEDIATE toothache relief. I have a few inexpensive home remedies that are guaranteed to work. Best part, the majority of the ingredients are in your kitchen pantry.

Vanilla Extract

Take a cotton ball and apply the vanilla extract. It will bring temporary relief, but do not leave on too long, vanilla extract will make your gums tender.

Warm Saltwater Rinse

Get a glass and add 1 Tablespoon of sea salt and Ifill it with warm water. Stir and gargle. The saltwater helps clean out any debris and helps with any infusions and cuts.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is awesome for cavities, abscesses, all mouth pain. I personally use this when an issue may arise, and it’s kid friendly. Just get a teaspoon full and put it in your mouth. Let it go the problem area. DO NOT SWALLOW!! After 15 minutes spit out the coconut oil. You will see it pulls out debris. For extra help, get a cotton swab and put some of the oil on it, place over the problem area. Do this as much as needed. You can also brush with coconut oil; it helps with tooth pain.

Over The Counter Medicine

Sometimes the pain is so bad you need something. If you can, take Ibuprofen. It helps with inflammation, and if you have mouth pain you will have inflammation.  Alter between Tylenol (acetaminophen) and ibuprofen. It helps with the pain. My mom taught me that trick.

Hot and Cold Compress

Depending on what’s going on, these compresses will help alleviate your mouth pain. You can use tea bags that can be frozen, they are compact and a perfect fit for your mouth. For my hot compresses, I boil water, put my washcloth in for 2 minutes. Drop in a big Ziplock bag, and cover with a towel.

Clove Oil

Clove oil has a numbing agent that will bring instant relief. You have to use cotton balls with this. Be careful not to get on your tongue and lips, they will become numb as well.

Hydrogen Peroxide Rinse

Use equal parts water and hydrogen peroxide. Rinse your mouth out with the solution, and do not swallow. Rinse with regular water after.

Garlic has antibacterial properties that are useful in many ailments. You can crush or chew the garlic. Make sure to get in on the affected area.
