Anxiety and depression have a funny way of creeping in and affecting the best of us. You may experience sleepless nights, angry outbursts, feeling low and in a dark place, panic attacks from dealing with traumatizing situations and stress, the list goes on and on.
I have a few helpful home remedies that can help elevate those pesky feelings and get you back to your happy self in no time.
I know you are laughing and calling me all kinds of names but hear me out. If you are a heavy drinker, alcohol has a funny way that it leads to depression. I use to drink, I would drink to feel good, to be social, and then I noticed I would feel bad. Sometimes this guilty feeling or sadness would come in when I wake up and I decided to do some research. It’s the alcohol… Click here.
It may seem as if everything is okay when you are drinking alcohol but is a natural relaxer. Once the effects wear off, your anxiety or depression will come back in full swing but heavier and harder. Worse, you become dependent on alcohol to keep getting that natural relaxed feeling. It’s a road of nothing but destruction, alcohol will wreak havoc on your body in the long run.
To cut the need for alcohol, you can take supplements to repair your liver and kidneys. An amazing product that can help with detoxing from alcohol is the liver cleanse and detox.
You may purchase this from Amazon. There are many different detoxes but in my opinion, this was one of the best. It’s not expensive, I am familiar with the different herbs and flowers used and I felt overall better with my mood and gut health within 4 days. It contains dandelion roots, and you will urinate a lot. Drink plenty of water.
When you sit in a dark room, or in a closed-up house, you will start to feel as gloomy as your environment. You need to move and get out, feeling the sun on your face.
Being depressed make you feel like you don’t want to do anything but sleep and be alone, but that’s not the answer. Get up, get dressed, and get outside. You need to breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the weather.
If you feel you cant muster the strength to go outside, take a Vitamin E supplement. It is not a remedy for the sun, but you can get the benefits that you will lack from not getting enough sun. Lack of Vitamin E has been known to cause depression.
There is nothing like a good cup of warm tea but did you know that different teas can help alleviate certain ailments?
I have a few tried and tested teas I use to drink when I suffered from postpartum depression. These particular teas are not just good for Postpartum depression, but they are helpful for anxiety, stress, tension, depression, sadness, and safe for children. I give my 8-year-old chamomile tea with warm honey on those fussy nights. Kids get stressed, too.
Drinking caffeine can cause nervousness and jitters, which can lead to anxiety. If you are having issues with caffeine just limit your consumption or just cut it out completely.
Get Your Sleep
You have to get enough sleep to keep up with your day-to-day demands, if you don’t you will start a downward spiral that can wreak havoc on your body and overall wellbeing. You need to create a nice relaxing atmosphere to get the best possible sleep you can.
Make it dark
No TV 1 hour before bed
No electronics 1 hour before bed
Get into a routine to go to bed a the same time or close to it every night. I tried this and within 3 nights, I automatically get sleepy by 11:00 pm. It works.
Get a diary and write in it. Write down your day, or what makes you mad, and leave your problems there.
Make your room cool. The bed with your covers will be cozy and you will be sleeping in no time.
Eat Healthy and Drink Healthy
I know, I know you can’t believe this is a discussion but did you know eating high fatty foods are linked to depression? Click here.
I was amazed by my findings, but I will say my family and I are feeling better eating healthier. You have more energy to do things, and you feel good inside.
High sugar diets are known to cause an increase in all types of mood disorders, and making quick lifestyle changes can do wonders for your mood.
Fruits and vegetables make you feel good inside so slowly incorporate these items into your meal. They give you a calming and relaxing effect that will help with anxiety and stress.
Drink plenty of water, fruit juices and sodas may taste good but all in all it’s just sugar.
I hope these home remedies help with any anxiety/ depression you may be experiencing. This is not a substitute for medical help. Please don’ hesitate to contact your doctor or Click Here for more help.
This is my go to favorite ham recipe. It reminds me of the holidays because my mom ALWAYS made this. Every bite is nostalgic, flavorful, and juicy. All you need is a few household ingredients and you are in business. Heads up: Mustard is used, but i promise you won't even taste it. This is kid tested and mother approved.
Raw Ham- cut off excess fat, I slice through in different directions and place in a roasting pan.
Spiral Ham - take out package and place in roasting pan.
Half Ham - place face down.
Mix the brown sugar, mustard, clove powder, and liquid smoke together until it turns into a creamy paste. Pour mixture all ham into every nock and cranny. Follow you hams baking directions. I cook my ham on 350 degrees, raw hams for 4 hours, spiral hams for 2.
With a teenager in the house its kind of hard to pinpoint the exact gift to get for them. I have a teenager daughter and she isn’t the most vocal when it comes to Christmas gifts until the LAST MINUTE. With the holiday books coming in the mail, I have been keeping an eye on some of the gadgets and gifts my oldest daughter keep looking at.
I hope some of these ideas can come in handy for you.
These are great presents for people who love to have rhinestones on everything. My teenager has bedazzled her walls, shirts, hats, curtains, and she now likes to wear rhinestones on her face. For the bedazzler of the family this is a perfect gift.
I know it doesn’t sound exciting but if you look into the world of phone cases, you will e surprised at what you see. I have a few phone cases myself, and I personally would like one for Christmas. Spice it up with their favorite character, sports teams, or favorite color with some funky or exotic shapes. Let your imagination run wild.
The perfect gift for anyone with a phone, this is essential for any phone. I have one of these as well. Listen, you just pop it to the back of your phone and you will never drop your phone again. They have so many different designs. Trust me, you will want one for yourself.
There will be no reason for the excuse of a dead phone now. Thiis is an easy gift to carry, and best of all… you don’t need a charger. ITS PORTABLE. Just plug their phone into in and they are charged up in no time.
Tell me you don’t know someone, especially your teenager, right now, that doesn’t need at least one ear bud? How about two? My teenager walking around the house as we speak with one working ear bud. Great stocking stuffer gift.
This is for the artsy teenager in the house. They always need paint brushes, canvas paper, chalk, paints, markers, water paints, construction paper, and cotton. You can find some really great art kits for great prices. They will sure love it.
This is a must have because it is too easy to lose important documents, like ID or drivers licenses. My daughter has a wallet and still proceeds to throw her money in her purse, I still have no idea why.
They will be so appreciative of this gift. You can personalize a cap or shirt, keychains, bath towels, earrings, car tags, floor mats, jackets, let your imagination run wild. I guarantee you will see a smile from ear to ear.
This is great for the decor enthusiast who loves to spruce up their rooms. Believe it or not my 8-year-old would love this gift. They come in so many styles, they are not the traditional type. You can get them with feet or a hoodie for warmth, they have some that has a calming effect, you will be amazed.
A lot of teenagers love to have mementos, but why not have a personal journey. They can write their deepest secrets, or just a memory book of their proudest moments. You will be sure to find something for them here.
We all are well aware we have a few viruses lingering around, and what better way to give a great gift that a face mask. You can find different designs and add antibacterial soap to it as stay healthy and safe gift.
I hope these ideas can help out with the holiday hassle and have fun.
This is my first real blog and I really don’t know how to start off, so I’m just going to talk.
If you read my Get To Know Me page, you know I suffer from hypoparathyroidism and coping with life, trying making the best out of EVERYTHING.
Well guess what…
I have a new journey ahead.
Over the weekend, Natlie’s birthday weekend, I received a call from a kidney program. I also had received some information in the mail, but I overlooked it. Do you have any idea how much health stuff you get in the mail?
I thought it was junk mail!!!
Needless to say I waited to check out the envelope until Monday. I despise dealing with stuff during the weekend.
This is what I received in the mail
I’m really nervous, I don’t know what to expect, but I’m hopeful.
To help with my nerves I’m gonna set some goals and so I can stay motivated.
I’m gonna bake something. Food is always good for the soul, and I can talk to the family about our new adventure.
