Anxiety and depression have a funny way of creeping in and affecting the best of us. You may experience sleepless nights, angry outbursts, feeling low and in a dark place, panic attacks from dealing with traumatizing situations and stress, the list goes on and on.

I have a few helpful home remedies that can help elevate those pesky feelings and get you back to your happy self in no time.

 Cut Alcohol

I know you are laughing and calling me all kinds of names but hear me out. If you are a heavy drinker, alcohol has a funny way that it leads to depression. I used to drink, I would drink to feel good, to be social, and then I noticed I would feel bad. Sometimes this guilty feeling or sadness would come in when I woke up, and I decided to do some research. It’s the alcohol… Click here.

It may seem as if everything is okay while drinking alcohol, but it is a natural relaxer. Once the effects wear off, your anxiety or depression will come back in full swing but heavier and harder. Worse, you become dependent on alcohol to keep getting that natural relaxed feeling. It’s a road of nothing but destruction, alcohol will wreak havoc on your body in the long run.

To cut the need for alcohol, you can take supplements to repair your liver and kidneys. A fantastic product that can help with detoxing from alcohol is the liver cleanse and detox.

You may purchase this from Amazon. There are many different detoxes but in my opinion, this was one of the best. It’s not expensive, I am familiar with the different herbs and flowers used and I felt overall better with my mood and gut health within 4 days. It contains dandelion roots, and you will urinate a lot. Drink plenty of water.

Get Active

When you sit in a dark room or in a closed-up house, you will start to feel as gloomy as your environment. You need to move and get out, feeling the sun on your face.

Being depressed makes you feel like you don’t want to do anything but sleep and be alone, but that’s not the answer. Get up, get dressed, and get outside. You need to breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the weather.

If you feel you can’t muster the strength to go outside, take a Vitamin E supplement. It is not a remedy for the sun, but you can get the benefits you will lack from not getting enough sun. Lack of Vitamin E has been known to cause depression.

Warm Teas

There is nothing like a good cup of warm tea, but did you know that different teas can help alleviate specific ailments?

I have a few tried and tested teas I use to drink when I suffered from postpartum depression. These particular teas are not just good for Postpartum depression, but they are helpful for anxiety, stress, tension, depression, and sadness, and are safe for children. I give my 8-year-old chamomile tea with warm honey on those fussy nights. Kids get stressed, too.

You can purchase these teas at Amazon.

Limit Your Caffeine

Drinking caffeine can cause nervousness and jitters, which can lead to anxiety. If you are having issues with caffeine just limit your consumption or just cut it out completely.

Get Your Sleep

You have to get enough sleep to keep up with your day-to-day demands, if you don’t, you will start a downward spiral that can wreak havoc on your body and overall well-being. You need to create a pleasant relaxing atmosphere to get the best possible sleep you can.

  • Make it dark
  • No TV 1 hour before bed
  • No electronics 1 hour before bed
  • Get into a routine of going to bed a the same time or close to it every night. I tried this, and within three nights, I automatically got sleepy by 11:00 pm. It works.
  • Get a diary and write in it. Write down your day or what makes you mad, and leave your problems there.
  • Make your room cool. The bed with your covers will be cozy, and you will be sleeping in no time.

Eat Healthy and Drink Healthy

I know, I know you can’t believe this is a discussion, but did you know eating high-fatty foods are linked to depression? Click here.

I was amazed by my findings, but my family and I are feeling better eating healthier. You have more energy to do things, and you feel good inside.

High-sugar diets are known to cause an increase in all types of mood disorders, and making quick lifestyle changes can do wonders for your mood.

Fruits and vegetables make you feel good inside, so slowly incorporate these items into your meal.  They give you a calming and relaxing effect that will help with anxiety and stress.

Drink plenty of water; fruit juices and sodas may taste good, but all in all, it’s just sugar.

I hope these home remedies help with any anxiety/ depression you may be experiencing. This is not a substitute for medical help. Please don’t hesitate to contact your doctor or  Click Here for more help.
