Back to School: Chaos

Hey yall! It’s that time of year again: Back to School!

I brought ice cream this time. I didn’t know if you like cones and toppings, so I just got a little of everything!

This has been the busiest time for the family and me. The girls have been homeschooled since Covid came in 2020. Well… this year, I decided to let them return to school. I can’t let them live in a bubble, and I have to loosen my reins. I can’t keep saying I’m afraid of Covid when there are 30 different types, we have monkeypox, polio, toxic water, flu and cold season, and natural causes to meet a timely demise. I have to live and let them live, too.

That said, I had no idea how much stuff Natlie and I used to do for the girls. It is VERY EXPENSIVE going school shopping. We have a teenager and a 9-year-old who thinks she is a teenager. The dress code is whatever they want to wear, within reason, and the school supply list made me feel like I was supplying for the class, not just my child.

I have been all around my city and online looking for bargains. I’m just going to be honest I shopped at:

I won’t lie; I don’t put all my eggs in one basket. I bargain shop and look for stuff at different places, and it works. Plus, it gives me a reason to have a girls’ day. I even got some great deals because we had a TAX-FREE WEEKEND! If you don’t know, you don’t pay taxes on much of your merchandise. You can take advantage of furniture, food, clothes, school supplies, etc.

This week, I have been going around town getting paperwork from the public schools so I can do their registration, and I won’t lie, it’s been a little hectic. I will have it done by Monday. Just not a lot of hours in a day. I still have stuff to do.

If it is time for school for yall, how are you coping? Are you having little meltdowns like me? Are you ready? If you are, I’m proud of you, and I’m mad you don’t want to help me get ready!!! I’m just kidding.

Ok, yall, I will talk to you in a few days; bear with me. I am sending you Big Hugs and Warm Smiles.

Ivey
